COVID-19/Coronavirus and Addiction Recovery Treatment

Crystal Lake Health is committed to providing compassionate care during a time of unprecedented uncertainty. The Coronavirus pandemic and social distancing measures have impacted employment, relationships, and finances for most of the country. It has been especially difficult for people with substance use or mental health disorders.

People in recovery have found their schedule of support meetings moved to online formats and aren’t enjoying the benefit of social interaction found at many self-help meetings. People struggling with an active substance use disorder may find it more difficult to reach out for help as help is harder to find. All these factors have created a perfect storm for relapse, continued use, and in some cases, overdose deaths.

We understand that we have two pandemics, the Coronavirus and substance use and co-occurring disorders. This is why we work diligently to hold ourselves to the highest safety and cleanliness standards. Our standards allow us to provide you with the highest caliber of clinical services for your behavioral health needs to help you heal your mind and spirit, especially in these uncertain times.

Before admitting any patient into our addiction recovery treatment program, we provide onsite COVID-19 rapid testing onsite. Results are available within 15 minutes. We have established the following protocols aligned with the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and all state and local guidance.

PATIENT AND STAFF SAFETY

Our PHP and IOP programs offer best-in-class care for our patients and we practice safety and hygiene standards to keep patients and staff healthy. All of our medical staff are up-to-date on best practices for limiting the Coronavirus spread to maintain the highest standard in safety protocols for treatment centers. Staff members who show symptoms or have had direct contact with COVID-19 are required to self isolate as required by current CDC guidelines. We provide PPE to all clients and staff. Additionally, our team has been trained in infection prevention, symptom identification, and safety measures.

ADMISSIONS

Before you enter our PHP or IOP program, we will screen you for COVID-19. There are no exceptions to the testing, and you will still be tested even if you have been vaccinated. Additionally, we will ask you questions regarding:

  • symptoms of the virus
  • potential exposure
  • travel history (as of February 2021, all travelers who are flying are required to wear masks)
  • direct contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19

Patients who screen positive cannot be admitted until they have a negative test, and we will help you find suitable arrangements in the event of a positive test.

CLEANING

Crystal Lake Healing has a thorough sanitizing and cleaning policy in place, which we have enhanced to address any potential concerns. All of our patients and staff are instructed to practice proper hand hygiene and avoid any skin to skin contact.

Frequently Asked Questions for COVID-19

We have put together a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) to help answer any questions you may have:

  • What can I do?

The CDC has provided a list of easy tips everyone can follow to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
    • Wear personal protective equipment such as face coverings.
    • Wash your hands as often as possible with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
    • Stay home when symptoms are present, and seek medical care as needed.
    • Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing.
  • Who is tested for COVID-19?

All incoming clients are tested during admissions; current patients showing symptoms or feeling sick are also tested.

  • What is the testing process for COVID-19?

We will take a small sample of blood, similar to a diabetes test. The sample is then analyzed.

  • Will I receive my test results?

Yes, your test results will be available to you within 15 minutes and may be reviewed with someone from our medical staff.

  • Why does everyone get tested?

The CDC recommends testing to limit the spread of the virus. Because you will be living with others and attending group therapy, it is crucial that current patients, admitting patients, and staff are tested to keep you and our facility healthy.

  • Can anyone else see my test results?

No, we follow strict HIPAA compliance guidelines, and our testing is 100% confidential.

  • SectionAm I responsible for paying for the test?

No, any costs associated with testing are paid by Crystal Lake to ensure your safety and the safety of all patients and staff.

  • What if I’ve been vaccinated?

Please let us know during your intake that you have been vaccinated. Until most of the population has been vaccinated, the CDC recommends no changes to current safety protocols, including testing.
